The Essential 40 Project
An investigation into the viability of infographics as a means to analyze and communicate the personality of my musical taste. Selecting the 40 most important records in my library (those most crucial in forming my identity as a music lover (this project graphically synthesizes primary information like song length, "mood", and rating to convey secondary meaning. Using these parameters, the rhythm and feel of a record can be established – does a record have a longer, more melancholy arc, or does it have a sharp, constantly shifting tone? When combined, the 40 record graphs offer insight into the music I love most.
